Pattaya Restaurants on the Beach

Updated June 1, 2019 By Darren C

There isn’t a huge choice of restaurants on the beach in Pattaya, mainly due to the lack of resorts which actually occupy or sit on the beach. If you’ve ever been to one of Thailand’s idyllic islands such as Koh Samui, Koh Chang and Koh Samet you will have witnessed the amazing beach transformation, late in the afternoon before sunset, tables and chairs are placed on the beach, complete with candles to create one of the most romantic dining experiences you could wish for. Just picture it, the setting sun, ocean lapping at your feet, sea breeze, fairy lights in the trees, you could never recreate that ambiance in any posh high street restaurant.

Are their any restaurants in Pattaya which offer dining on the beach ?.

There are a handful of restaurants in Pattaya which set their tables “on the beach”, but you won’t find them on the main Pattaya beach or Jomtien beach, instead you will have to travel either north to the beaches at Wongamat and Krating Lai, or south to Na Jomtien beach.

The Glass House

Dine on the beach, the terrace, or in the air conditioned restaurant, the Glass House (pictured below) is open from 11 AM until midnight and has a choice of both Thai and western food, plus a beach barbecue.

Bacco Beach Restaurant

Situated right next door to the Glass House, Bacco specializes in Italian food, their pizzas are highly recommended, as is their choice of wines. I have not had chance to dine their personally as of yet but when I do I will update this information. Unfortunately their website is not very informative, but you can call them and ask for more information.

The View Restaurant

Thai and western food, The View (see photo below) has a large terraced dining area overlooking the ocean, very low tables are placed on the beach shortly before sunset, mats are provided for sitting on, more suited to young couples than families due to the intimate seating arrangement.

Ploy Restaurant On The Beach

This is a much more casual setup, as you can see in the photo (below), not the kind of place where you would go for a night time meal but a great place for a snack and a drink in the afternoon.

To the north of the Pinnacle Resort there is also a handful of restaurants overlooking the beach, most of which have direct access to a narrow strip of beach and a couple with a small number of tables on the beach, as shown in the photo (below). There is also another windsurfing / sailing center on this strip, and a rocky outcrop on the estuary which looks like a popular fishing location.

Krating Lai Beach

Two restaurants on Krating Lai Beach, one next to the Cholchan Resort and one behind Bella Villa Cabana hotel, both have tables on the beach and undercover. The restaurant behind Bella Villa has a slightly better menu but both have a very limited western menu, nevertheless it’s a beautiful setting, if you go early enough you can see the sun setting over the Sanctuary of Truth. The restaurants on Krating Lai beach are are a good option if you have children, lots of beach for them to run around on, not a good place for paddling in the sea due to the presence of some very sticky mud.

Rim Talay seafood Restaurant

Situated on Wongamat Beach, Rim Talay boasts 700 seats and several seating areas including the beach and the terrace, live music and an extensive menu including Thai, seafood and western dishes.

Breeze Beach Club

Situated on Wong Prachan/Wongamat Beach, Breeze Beach Club is the beach-front restaurant of the Centara Grand Modus resort. Seafood and snacks are the specialty here, and you can choose to dine on the beach if you wish. Saturday night is seafood barbecue night, the Earth & Sea bbq runs between 18.00 and 21.30 hours, tickets cost 1,590 baht per adult, including free flow wine. They do recommend you book a table for the Earth & Sea BBQ.

Opening times: Breeze beach club is opened daily to the public between 11.00-21.00 hours.

More Pattaya Seaside Restaurants

The following restaurants are not situated directly on the beach but they offer great sea views.

The Sky Gallery Pattaya

Sitting on top of the hill overlooking picturesque Cosy Beach, and offering wonderful sea views this is a great place for sundowners. The menu only really consists of snacks, breakfast, salads, cake, and drinks, so not really a place to go for a meal unless you’re a light eater. Opening times: 06.00 – midnight.

Address: 400 M. 12 Racjchawaroon Road, Phratumanak Hill. Telephone: 038 418 588 or 081 931 8588. Website: http://www.skygallerypattaya.com/web/index.html

Rimpa Lapin

With it’s commanding position high above the beach, this terraced hillside restaurant is famed for its amazing views, atmosphere and food. Rimpa Lpin is owned by a well known Thai actor who’s dream it was to build a restaurant on the prominent hilltop location owned by his family. The menu focuses mainly on Thai fusion food, good wine and imported beers.

Rimpa Lapin is open daily from 4:00 pm – 12:00 am (midnight). Telephone: 038-235-515 or 084-451-5686. Website: http://www.rimpa-lapin.com/index.php.
Address: Na Jomtien 36, Sukhumvit Rd, Na Jomtien.

The Beach Club at Pullman Pattaya G

Address: 445/3 Moo 5, Wong Amart Beach, Pattaya – Naklua Road Soi 16.
The Beach Club at Pullman Pattaya G is a great place for sundowners, snacks, a meal, or a fun day out with the family. Located directly facing Wongamat beach it has great views and great alfresco dining. They are open from 6.30 in the morning until 10 at night, they are open to non hotel guests, and are very child friendly. Want to know about The Beach Club at Pullman Pattaya G, read my report.

Pattaya beach dining tips.

  • If you want live music try The View on Na Jomtien Beach or Rim Talay on Wongamat Beach.
  • Got restless kids who like to run around and play, try any of the 2 restaurants on Krating Lai Beach.
  • Feeling romantic and you prefer to dine on beach mats then The View is for you.
  • You’ll see a great sunset from Krating Lai beach.
  • Best choice of western food at Rim Talay, The View and The Glasshouse.
  • Most beautiful setting is probably the Glasshouse.
  • Best time to go is shortly before sunset or after dark, fairy lights, candles and oil lamps make a huge difference to the ambiance, “you romantic fool“.
  • Don’t forget your mosquito repellent, the mosquitoes don’t mind a feast on the beach, best remember the occasion for tasty bites instead of mosquito bites.
  • Alfresco dining in Thailand only has one drawback, “goddamn flies“, not usually a problem after dark but occasionally they are an absolute nuisance in the morning or afternoon.
