Pattaya Krating Lai Beach

Updated May 1, 2017 By Darren C

Looking for a quiet beach in Pattaya, without the hassle of the Pattaya and Jomtien beach vendors and hawkers ?. If you are living or holidaying in the Banglamung and Naklua areas of Pattaya, then Krating Lai beach could be the perfect beach hideaway for you.

Pattaya’s tree line and shady Krating Lai Beach.

Krating Lai is one the few tree lined beaches in Pattaya, the trees also offer shade over a paved walkway which starts at the Cholchan Hotel and extends North towards Banglamung, if you are prepared to negotiate some rocky ground at the farthest end you can take a fifteen to 20 minute walk to the pier which has a strange looking construction mounted on it.

Krating Lai is one of the more secluded beaches of Pattaya Thailand.

The sand at Krating Lai beach is quite coarse and some debris does get washed up, the water can also get very dirty, I suspect this is due to the water being shallow and having a soft muddy bottom, so make sure you check the water before bathing. Never the less it is still a very attractive beach.

If you want to dine on a nice secluded beach then Pattaya’s Krating Lai beach might be good choice.

There are shady areas where you can sit down but if you want sun loungers you may be better off taking your own. There are 2 restaurants on the beach, both with ample seating under the shade of the trees.

Pattaya’s Krating Lai beach is still used by local fishermen.

Krating Lai is a relaxed and lazy beach, you may see fishermen wading through the water or on the beach tending to their nets, and there is a volleyball net close to the Cholchan Hotel, apart from that the only activity you’re likely to see is a swinging hammock.

Update February 2nd 2014: Since writing this post Krating Lai Beach has undergone a major refurbishment, but it retains it’s character and natural beauty. The refurbishment has included wide footpaths, exercise areas, shaded seating areas and a skateboard park.
