Am I going to preach about how visitors to Pattaya should wear a condom, no. Are these photos of me wearing a condom, no. Don’t worry there are no rude pictures here, but there are pictures of some dummies wearing condoms. And the idea behind these dummies wearing condoms is basically centered on sex education, H.I.V. AIDS awareness and family planning.
“Wearing a condom” I said, but actually these mannequins are dressed in condoms, the reason for this is to put across one mans message, that man is Thailand’s “condom king” Mechai Viravaidya, a wealthy politician and former Thai cabinet minister, Mr Viravaidya has been campaigning and promoting safe sex, AIDS awareness and family planning for over 2 decades. He is also the owner of the Birds and Bees, Cabbages and Condoms resort and restaurant in Pattaya where condom adorned mannequins help to put his message across.
It’s a novel idea to say the least, to walk in to a restaurant and see a load of dummies wearing condoms certainly grabs your attention, and your sense of humor, I’m sure we could all think of a few quips about father Christmas in the photo (above). “Christmas comes but once a year”, “all your Christmases have come at once”.
And what about some collective names for the dummies wearing condoms in the photo (above), “the 3 pack”, “the rubber johnnies”, “the sperminators”.
This photo (above) just proves that safe sex is a subject which can’t be kept under the table, in a manner of speaking.
No after dinner mints here, but you can help yourself to a condom, they’re free.
So, like the condom says, think hiv, use a condom, because jokes aside, they really are lifesavers.
