Thai Things – The Cycling Brush Vendor

Updated May 31, 2021 By Darren C

Mobile street vendors are a common sight on the streets and roads of Pattaya, they are a common site throughout Thailand actually. Thai street vendors wander the streets and villages in the hope of making a sale, vendors have varying means of transporting their goods between possible customers. They may simply walk, carrying their goods in a bag or in the case of some food sellers, have a yolk slung across their shoulders, others push a cart or a trolley, the fortunate ones may have a truck. Others, like the Thai vendor (in the photo below) selling brushes on the streets of Pattaya have adapted bicycles to suit their means.

It must be long tiring day for a mobile vendor in Thailand, especially the ones who have to tread the hot sticky streets of Thailand by foot, walking underneath the burning sun, 80 percent humidity, air polluted by traffic, just to make ends meet. Spare a thought for them, spare a thought for the man pedaling the streets of Pattaya on his bicycle, next time you need a brush, don’t buy it from the supermarket, wait until you see him and buy a brush from him.
