Walking Street Before the Party Starts

Walking Street, the jewel in Pattaya’s nightlife crown, is better known for it’s neon lights than the light of day. Walking Street by day is a stark contrast to the bump and grind of the night time. Scantily dressed girls and party-goers are replaced by delivery trucks, postmen, and beach lovers heading towards Bali Hai and the ferry to Koh Lahn.

The photos below are of Walking Street by day from 2010 to more recent times. You’ll notice that for better or worse, it’s changed a lot over the years.

The New Walking Street

The bar scene on Walking Street is forever changing and evolving. However, the most significant visual transformation in recent years has been the burying of the overhead power cables and the removal of the iconic overhanging signs. Although the street has a cleaner, more modern look, Walking Street without its chaotic cables and overhead signage is not the Walking Street of old. For better or worse, what do you think: has Walking Street lost its charm?
