How warm is it in Thailand ?.
Answer: Average daily temperatures are about 30 Celsius, central and southern Thailand temperatures only fluctuate by 5 or 6 degrees year round. Northern and North-eastern Thailand temperatures can rise to more than 40 Celsius between March and June, in contrast it’s not unheard of for the temperature to drop below 20 Celsius between November and February.
How warm is the sea in Thailand ?.
Answer: The sea temperature is between 27 – 30 Celsius year round, it’s like warm bath water. Even at 50 meters the temperature is 22 – 23 Celsius.
How many hours of daylight are there in Thailand ?.
Answer: On average there is about 12 hours of daylight in Thailand but there are some seasonal variances. you can expect the least hours of daylight in January, sunrise is around 0645 – 0700, sunset around 1750 – 1810. The most hours of daylight occur in July, sunrise around 0550 – 0600, sunset around 1850 – 1900.
Is it cold at night time in Thailand ?.
Answer: The temperature usually only drops 5 or 6 degrees at night time and is still comfortable, you could quite easily sleep outside wearing no more than a ‘T’ shirt. You should expect an occasional chilly night in December and January, which may warrant wearing a sweater or light jacket.
Do Thai people speak English ?.
Answer: People employed in or engaged in the tourist industry generally speak reasonable English, that includes hotel staff, restaurant staff, tour guides and airport staff. Outside of the tourism industry it depends how much interaction people have with foreigners. Tourist destinations, especially the ones with an ex-pat community, including Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Koh Samui have quite a high percentage of English speakers outside of the tourist industry.
Can I take cigarettes and alcohol in to Thailand ?.
Answer: Yes but there are restrictions. At the time of writing this post the limits are 200 cigarettes, or 250 grams of cigars, or 250 grams of tobacco, 1 liter of alcohol. What’s the price of beer in Thailand ?.
Answer: Thai brand beers such as Chang, Singha and Leo range from 50 – 80 baht for a large bottle. Small bottles and cans cost 30 – 40 baht from 7-11. Average price for a small bottle of beer at a bar is around 60 – 90 baht. Expect to pay up to 3 or 4 times this amount in a club or go-go bar. Premium beers tend to be 30 – 40 baht more than Thai beers.
What does a packet of cigarettes cost in Thailand ?.

Can I hire a car or motorcycle in Thailand ?.
Answer: Yes you can. Many hire companies stipulate that you must have had the appropriate license from your home country for 1 year, and be at least 21 years old. The British motoring organizations ‘AA’ and ‘RAC’ both firmly state the an International Driving Permit is required to drive in Thailand, in respect of this I would advise you to obtain an IDP from your home country. Also make sure any medical or travel insurance covers you for driving cars and motorcycles. Be especially careful if you are considering hiring a motorcycle in Thailand.
Can I use my ATM card in Thailand ?.
Answer: Most foreign bank ATM cards will work in Thailand, always confirm this first with your bank, especially if your ATM card is to be used as your primary cash source. NOTIFY YOUR BANK: always notify your bank before using your card abroad or it will be flagged as possible fraudulent behavior and transactions will be stopped.
