No matter what walk of life or social background your Thai Wife, Girlfriend or Fiancee comes from, the moment you announce to your friends and family back in your home country that you are dating a Thai woman you may feel that their is an underlying feeling of disappointment or indifference. Usually, your friends and relatives have your best interest at heart, but for some reason they have taken an instant dislike to your sweetheart from Thailand, you know that if they will only give her a chance, they will realize that she is genuine.
What is Thai Wife Stigma.
This stigma is borne from a reputation which Thai women have wrongly or rightly earned for themselves in the eyes of foreign nations, a reputation for being deceitful, greedy, being prostitutes, marrying foreigners purely for financial gain.
What do my friends think of my Thai wife.
They assume that she is a mail order bride, or a peasant who only requires a richer man to take care of her and that her love is false, that she is a former prostitute who manipulated you. She wants to move away from Thailand for relative security offered by the state benefits and welfare system of your country. They suspect that you fell for her because she is easy, and has no moral virtues. They associate your Thai wife with stories they have read in the press, or accounts from friends who have visited Thailand and told stories of the high number of prostitutes in Thailand, accounts of bar girls in Pattaya who throw themselves at passing farangs (foreigners).
Of course this could all be true, but it is not, we are talking about a wife/girlfriend who genuinely loves you for all the right reasons, regardless of where and how you met her.
The fact is, human nature is basically the same no matter where you are in the world, Prince Charming is not sought only by Thai women, internet dating or so called “mail order brides” are not exclusively Thai, there may be many Thai prostitutes working abroad, and I’m sure there would be many foreign prostitutes working in Thailand if they could make good living. There are gold diggers, con merchants and scammers in every country, every town and city on the planet, we should not judge a book by it’s cover or stereotype people because of where they come from.
