The weather in pattaya roughly follows the seasonal trends of Thailand’s weather system which has three seasons, The Cool Season, The Hot Season and The Rainy Season. You can never quite predict the Pattaya weather though, especially in the rainy season which seasonally runs from June to October / November. Throughout the rainy season the Pattaya weather is generally drier than most parts of Thailand, Pattaya and the Eastern Seaboard area receive the least average annual rainfall, some regions of Thailand may receive almost twice as much rain annually. Many regions of Thailand will receive rain every day during the rainy season, Pattaya on the other hand, and fortunately, seems to have periods of a few days rain and pleasant weather in between, the worst of it usually comes around September and October. Below is a guide to the seasons and what you can expect from the Pattaya Weather.
The Cool Season (November through to February).
During this period you can expect average temperatures of 26 – 27 degrees centigrade, 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Don’t be mislead by these modest sounding temperatures though, the humidity factor probably add another five degrees centigrade to this. The average rainfall for the region during rainy season is about 187 millimetres, but Pattaya probably gets less than it’s fair share of this. Humidity averages about 70 – 75%.
The Hot Season (March through to May).
Temperatures will rise to an average of 28 – 30 degrees centigrade or 86 degrees Fahrenheit, but you can expect temperatures of 40 degrees centigrade, 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity of 75- 80% is usual. Average seasonal rainfall is about 250 millimetres. April is the warmest month of this period. Towards the end of May you might get occasional showers.
The Rainy Season (June through to October).
As I said in the opening paragraph, Pattaya usually receives far less rain than most areas of Thailand, this may be due to being on the coast and the protection of the hills and mountains to the east. Despite having less rainfall than surrounding areas the Pattaya weather can be unpredictable from mid May onwards. When it rains it usually rain hard and flooding is common. Temperatures average 28 degrees centigrade, 82 Fahrenheit and humidity is at it’s highest at this time of year, between 80 and 90% is the average.
