One of the most important things you can own as an ex-pat living in Thailand is an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). These devices are absolutely essential if you spend any time working on a computer. Power outages, power cuts, power failures or whatever you want to call them happen frequently and without warning in Thailand.
If you don’t use a UPS for your computer that means you could easily lose 4 or 5 hours work, quite literally in the blink of an eye. Cheap computer UPS units are available at most decent electrical hardware stores in Thailand, for the cost around 2000 – 3000 baht you could save yourself a lot of grief. I also suggest you buy one with surge protection.
